Task 5 -The Big Pitch
Sun, Apr 19th 2009
Synopsis
In this task, the individual candidates will be required to pitch to a panel of 4 investment brokers/asset managers or analysts various business ideas that are potentially viable and profitable. The aim is for the contestants to present a 3-minute business proposal with a capacity to (convincingly) secure investment or finance from the panel.

The candidates will pitch their idea(s) and name the amount of investment required with the intent of raising the said investment from the panel. If they are unable to convince the panel that their ideas are worth investing in, they get nothing. On the other hand if the panel considers the business idea pitched as viable and potentially profitable, they are required to negotiate the investment required in return for a percentage of the company’s stock, which becomes the main point of a 3 -5 minute negotiation. Therefore, once the candidates have made their presentations (power-point is prohibited; we want to test how creative they would be in their pitch without this), the panel of brokers/analysts will probe further, revealing possibly lack of preparation or uncovering flaws or strengths which may lead to an independent decision to invest or reject the investment bid.

At the end of each presentation, followed by probing Q&A’s the panel members will be asked to provide an independent assessment of the pitch
